During my senior year I was the starting quarterback on the National College Division Football Champions. I coached football at Ohio University and Florida State University for the next 10 years. I graduated from Florida State University with a PhD and spent the next five years in university administration. I had direct supervision over nine university offices involved in providing student academic support services. I moved to Vanderbilt University to return to athletics administration then moved to Georgia Southern University to become the Athletics Director. During my term as athletics director the program had unprecedented growth. We started a varsity football program and subsequently won six national football championships at the NCAA 1-AA level. We started Southern Boosters Inc. the fund raising arm of Georgia Southern University athletics and raised over 20 million dollars for operations and to build Allen E. Paulson Stadium. I retired from athletics administration in 1995 and taught sports law and risk management in sports for the next seven years. I consulted also in the area of strategic planning in sports programs during this time. Upon retirement from the University I began a career in real estate. I am a life long learner and have completed all the course requirements for the CCIM designation and have over 300 hours of in service training courses. I am an active supporter of Georgia Southern University athletics. I enjoy the outdoor pursuits of hunting, fishing, and golf. I am married to Sue Bland who grew up in Metter, Georgia. We have four children and two grand children.
